The Piano is Back!
The upright console piano, also called “Sit a Spell and Play a Tune” is back and is located next to the outdoor coffee stand near the Coronado Library and is available for anyone in the community to play, from our Coronado Bike Tour riders, residents, visitors to professional musicians and beginners alike.
In addition to casual use by the public, the library and Cultural Arts Commission are planning a formal reopening event for Friday, August 15. The event will feature a community sing-along and live piano performance. In previous summers, the Commission has hosted sing-alongs in partnership with local music groups such as the Crown City Chorale and the Ukulele Club. Attendees were provided with lyric sheets to music from the Beatles, Broadway musicals, and songs that were commonly known and liked, said Richards, adding that the upcoming event will be intended to serve a similar purpose to strengthen community ties. The “Sit a Spell and Play a Tune” piano will remain outdoors through the summer and fall.
